Choosing an Engagement Ring Design

Personality

Take a minute to consider your partner's personality. This plays a key role in deciding the style of ring.

In general a more confident or outgoing person may suit a more elaborate ring design or larger diamond.

A special memory or place may be something you want you ring to signify. The ring on the right was inspired by the moon setting over the ocean.

Lifestyle

marquise diamond ring

In general an active sports woman may prefer a ring with low-set secure diamonds. This would also be true for those who do a lot of physical work with their hands.

The ring on the left is very elegant, particularly because of the unusual shaped marquise diamond. However the ring on the right is more practical for the active outdoors person.

Setting

pave ring

The ring on the left is absolutely stunning, set with some 58 diamonds. This type of Pave setting can catch dirt and therefore would have to be taken off whilst someone worked in a harsh environment. It wouldn't therefore suit someone who worked on a farm or as a landscape gardener.

The ring on the right, is much better in this regard and perhaps would only need cleaning once a year. The process is very simple and can either be done using a special jewellery cleaning tub from the supermarket or dropped in at the local jeweller.

The ring on the right is also tougher because of how the diamonds are so securely set below the metal. That said, our claw setting is actually very strong.

Diamond Shape and Size

You may wish to consider diamond shape before starting shopping as this also relates to many of the factors considered here. More exotic shapes perhaps suit more outgoing personalities, as do diamonds with larger carat sizes.
